FuseFX Wins 2020 HPA for Outstanding VFX (Over 13 episodes)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FUSEFX WINS HPA OUTSTANDING VISUAL EFFECTS – 9-1-1
(LOS ANGELES— November 20th, 2020)

Last night FuseFX won the 2020 HPA for Outstanding Visual Effects – Episodic (Over 13 Episodes) for its work on ‘9-1-1.’This year’s ceremony was unique to the year we find ourselves in 2020, but virtual is the new way. The FuseFX ‘9-1-1‘ team received back-to-back HPA nominations in the same category in 2019 and 2020. Last season on ‘9-1-1,’ the VFX team created a major earthquake that earned them a 2019 HPA nomination. How do you follow an earthquake? A tsunami, of course! This season the showrunners wanted to up the adrenaline and excitement for its episode, “Sink or Swim.” The VFX artists were tasked with building on their previous work to create a major tsunami. The episode begins as a major tsunami hits the city of Los Angeles, flooding the streets and causing utter chaos. The work was a massive undertaking, but the team proved they were up for the challenge, delivering brilliant VFX work and bringing home the HPA!

The honors went to Jon Massey (VFX Supervisor), Tony Pirzadeh (VFX Producer), Bryant Reif (CG Supervisor), Brandon Criswell (Compositing Supervisor), and David Rand (Lead FX Artist).
